Soccer field project

The story

As a child, António Alelluia was a very big soccer fan and enjoyed playing soccer professionally and privately. However, he always thought it was a pity that the boys of the favela never had a proper place to play their favorite sport. For this reason, he considered it very important to build a place where the boys from the neighborhood could attend soccer classes and practice. Today, the NGO holds daily soccer classes for boys and girls aged about seven to eighteen. This is really special because the children find there a place where they can freely enjoy themselves and express themselves physically.

The soccer project of the ONG offers the children of the community the possibility to play in a good environment, with other children of their age. Away from drug trafficking, violence and racism, they can develop and challenge themselves in sports. But especially important to us is the fair and polite treatment during the game, which is often lacking in everyday life.

The problem

Meanwhile, Vidigal also has another soccer field made of artificial grass, in the uppermost part of the favela. But the field is under other forces, and the children and young people rarely have the opportunity to play there. The ONG field, on the other hand, has no boss in charge, and everyone has the opportunity to play.

Unfortunately, the pitch of the ONG does not have the same quality of the other soccer pitch. Currently, the children play on a pitch that consists of sand and dust. After an extensive rain, it is not possible to play on the court because it becomes too muddy. At the same time there are many stones in the ground. Children who cannot afford shoes often do not participate in the soccer project because they are afraid of getting hurt. However, many play anyway, and often go home with bloody feet.
